Don’t worry about failures. Worry about the chances you’ll miss when you don’t even try.

– Jack Canfield

Do you often find yourself being overly self-critical?

Thinking you are not good enough and will probably mess up?

Are you intently trying to avoid any sense of failure and embarrassment?

Do you tend to downplay your achievements, constantly seek others’ approval and apologize too much?

Defeating Doubt Living with Assurance

If you suffer from low self-confidence and self-esteem, the above experiences are surely familiar to you. Some of the most typical thinking traps that people with low self-confidence fall into, include constantly comparing oneself unfavourably with others, exaggerating mistakes, negative self-labelling and discounting one’s achievements.
When we downplay our accomplishments, we do not acknowledge our abilities, causing us to believe they are insufficient. Consequently, we develop a negative self-perception, start to feel inferior and label ourselves as ‘incompetent’, ‘worthless’, ‘unlovable’ etc. In this situation it is not uncommon to overgeneralize, meaning that making the smallest mistake can lead to negative conclusions about our personality as a whole.
Moreover, having a negative self-image affects your relationships, as it causes nonstop worry about how others perceive you. You may fear that you are judged by others, withdraw from opportunities and become unwilling to take on challenges.
Having to deal with constant internal criticism and recurring doubtful thoughts about yourself can have a significant impact on your overall quality of life. Although feelings of inadequacy might seem difficult to overcome, becoming a balanced and self-assured person is absolutely possible.

How Can I Help?

In my therapy, I offer a comprehensive approach and use integrative methods to help you overcome issues related to self-confidence and self-esteem. Cognitive-behavioural therapy gives the foundation of this approach, supplemented by mindfulness exercises, elements of acceptance and commitment therapy, and optionally, hypnotherapy.
Cognitive therapy provides an effective framework to identify and challenge negative self-perceptions and create a realistic picture of your strengths and weaknesses.
During the sessions, we address the thinking errors underlying negative self-evaluation in order to break the vicious cycle of destructive thoughts. You will learn actionable techniques that you will be able to apply effectively in the future as well.
Through exercises for self-regulation, you will become more self-aware and capable of effectively managing your emotions under pressure. You will learn to distinguish between rating your behaviour and rating your personality as a whole.
Through regular self-reflection and positive reinforcement, you will develop a mindset that fosters resilience and personal growth. Imagery exercises and mental rehearsal can be of exceptional use to facilitate positive change.
Therapy is always unique and requires a tailored approach. At the beginning of therapy, we set clear goals and monitor progress regularly, making sure you are on the right track to reach the desired results.

“Anna is an exceptionally knowledgeable CBH therapist who exudes warmth, approachability, and a genuine desire to help. She creates an environment that encourages trust and openness. I felt heard and supported throughout and her flexibility enabled me to navigate sessions based on my current needs. The recordings that she provided were also incredibly helpful. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Anna to anyone considering cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy.”

Anna was great at asking the right questions, was very well prepared and helped identify the root of the problem. She also had a good understanding of the situations I had trouble with, and helped me identify my strengths and accept positive feedback.”

“I really enjoyed working with Anna, she was able to make me comfortable and share my feelings about the situation that caused me stress, anxiety and worries. She helped me see the whole situation objectively and the single elements causing me distress. Also, it was valuable to have some plan of action and analyse the different options to find the best solutions to my problem with short and long term advantages and disadvantages.”
Marisa

Anna was a good listener and pointed out some important aspects of my issue. After analysing these, it was easier to find the option with the best outcome. After our sessions, I felt very much relieved and able to find the best solution where all the parties involved could be in a win-win situation. I really enjoyed the sessions Anna delivered, without her input I would still be stuck feeling lost and overwhelmed and unable to take action.”
Phillip

Anna was very experienced, calm and professional.  I immediately felt rapport with her and that I could trust her to listen and not make judgements of my presenting issue.  She was good at listening and asking relevant questions, plus, suggesting processes that we could follow. During our session with Anna we put a plan together that I could follow including coping strategies that I can apply in the future.  She also sent useful information after the sessions for me to use.”
Monica

“As a company director communication is a key part of what I do. The past few years I developed anxiety around speaking in front of people and having confrontational interactions. Not good if you are a director. Anna helped me tremendously. She helped me dissect the problem into key parts then work on those systematically. Both her supportive personality and knowledge about communication and psychology gave a lot to me. I still have some work to do on myself, but now I have no problem speaking in front of many eyes and having confrontational talks with people if necessary. If you need help I highly recommend Anna.”
